Playa Blanca is the third largest resort on the Island and is situated in the south. It is aĆ very relaxed and peaceful place to stay which is ideal for families and couples.
The centre of Playa Blanca has a small traditional square with a church and various shops and restaurants line the road that takes you through it and onto the marina. On the coastline there are more restaurants overlooking the beach. An ideal spot to sip a cocktail whilst watching the children play on the beach.
The new marina Rubicon is just a 10 minute walk along the coastal promenade. Its architecture is superb and the many excellent restaurants and designer shops are well worth a visit. There is a small market held in the square, twice a week.
Further on from the marina, there is a national park which has some of the best beaches on Lanzarote. There are no hotels or apartments here. It is completely unspoilt and a beach lovers paradise.
The other side of Playa Blanca has the old harbour where you can catch a ferry over to the sister Island of Fuertaventura. Ferry departures are almost every hour. You can also take a boat taxi from here which will stop at the marina Rubicon and then onto Papagayo.
There are now two new water parks in Playa Blanca and although they belong to hotel groups, they welcome guests from outside.
